Georgia Southern is a public university. It was founded in 1906, joined the state university system in 1931, and gained university status in 1989. Programs are offered through the Colleges of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences; Business Administration; Education; Health and Professional Studies; the Allen E. Paulson College of Science and Technology; and the Center for International Studies. Its 630-acre campus is located in Statesboro, 50 miles from Savannah.
